Camping is what makes scouting great!
This website is dedicated to helping you and your unit enjoy the best
outdoor program possible.
- Online Camp Database
Scoutcamp.org provides a large database of camps, including both scout-owned, public
and private lands. All of these camps were submitted by scouters who actually camped there,
along with
many useful comments. Explore the database, and contribute to it!
- America's Oldest Boy Scout Camps
Which camp existed first? The answer turns out to be a bit complicated...
- Excellence in Camp Promotion
Colonial Virginia Council has launched a set
of three videos to promote Rappahannock Boy Scout
Camp, Rivah
Base, and CHASE.
These videos are outstanding examples of great camp promotion. After watching, you'll want
to know where to sign up for a great Scout Camp experience. If your camp doesn't have a
promotional video like this, make the suggestion or help your local Council set one up.
- Camp Stories
Stories of scout camping trips.
- OA Where-to-go-Camping Guides
The Order of the Arrow (OA) is a service organization within scouting. Many OA
lodges publish a "where-to-go-camping" guide for their area. These guides have been
around long before the internet, and are often still the best source for detailed
information.
Contact your local council to see if your local OA lodge publishes a guide.
- Poems and Songs - Summer Camp
Christine McKinney of Troop 152, Lexington, OH, has shared some of her origninal poetry and songs about the summer camp experience with us. Great inspiration and great fun!
- Scout Camp Diaries
Read first-hand accounts of what it was like to attend a Scout at camp long ago.
- Scout Camp Histories
Every scout camp has a unique story behind it. Take a minute to appreciate some
pieces of scouting's rich heritage.
- Scout Camps After Hurricane Katrina
Recovering from disaster - a story of the brotherhood of Scouting
